Gastroenterology certification is granted for a period of five years. The certification period begins with the date certification or recertification is granted (the exam date or the deadline for submission of recertification by contact hours) and ends on December 31 five years later. Candidates may recertify either by taking the current certification examination or by submitting an application for recertification by contact hours.

2018 Re-certification Statistics

 

The percentage of CGRNs seeking recertification remained steady at 55% in 2018. Of the 753 eligible to recertify in 2018, 411 nurses renewed their certification. According to survey data, this decline is mostly attributable to retirement.
