What is your path to certification?

NAME: Don Cooper, MBA BSN RN CGRN LNC
WORK: Nurse supervisor, Florida Hospital Heartland Medical Center
YEARS IN GI: 21
YEARS CERTIFIED IN GI: 13

For Don, the CGRN validated his commitment to the specialty and demonstrated his passion for GI.

After working in GI/endoscopy for a while, I made the decision to really perform at the highest level and focus on the specialty. Being CGRN certified was important for me, as it is a visible way to show how I am committed to GI. I wanted to head down a career path of leadership, climbing ladders professionally. Having the CGRN credentials provided me with more opportunities for my future. Even though I don’t have regular, direct interaction with patients, being certified still provides me with the foundation to perform my job better and keep up with industry trends. I am now part of a great community — the network of CGRNs.
